The cars were all 1972 and before, and they were all in cherry condition. Crowds flooded the streets of downtown Gilroy to see the cars, listen to the bands, support our troops, and have a wonderful day.
The weather cooperated with a sunny, pleasant day: not too hot, not too cold. Families and friends toured the cars, stopping to admire a paint job, upholstery, or an engine. Friends met other friends. Hungry and thirsty attendees stepped into one of the nearby restaurants or the coffee shop for a snack or a quick drink. The crowd got a preview of the soon-to-be-opened Bella Viva Ristorante e Caffè.
Mayor Al Pinheiro was cooking up Silva Sausages for a fund raiser. (Now that’s putting your city government to work for you!)
But the stars of the day were undoubtedly the cars.
