The Garlic City Cafe has been a popular eating spot since it opened in 2007. Diego and Margarita have created a varied menu that will appeal to a wide variety of tastes, including some old favorites, like Eggs Benedict (breakfast) and a Turkey Club sandwich (lunch), and some not-so-common offerings, like Cuban sandwiches (lunch) and osso bucco (dinner). This being Gilroy, the Garlic Capital of the world, there is a nice selection of garlicky dishes for anyone wanting to “go native”.
The Cream of Garlic soup draws universal praise – just take a look at the Yelp! reviews to see.
There are a couple of tables outside on the sidewalk where you can get full meal service when the weather is nice. These tables are favorites with the weekend breakfast crowd, so you might have some competition.
Oh, and I tasted their garlic ice cream (delivered from Santa Cruz) – rich roasted garlic flavor in luscious, creamy ice cream. The brain struggles with the combination, but the tongue is pure happy.
Top quality, delicious food served in good sized portions make any visit worthwhile.
